At SEP Management, we believe that looking after Sunderland Enterprise Park is about more than maintaining buildings and infrastructure, it’s about creating an environment where businesses, employees, visitors and nature can all thrive.
That’s why we’re proud to support the ongoing development of the Berry Edge Pollinator Park on Sunderland Enterprise Park, providing a haven for pollinators, birds and other wildlife while enhancing the natural environment for everyone who uses the site.
A new sign, which has been designed and installed by Ian Jones of Insigns, tells the story behind the wild space and how it supports wildlife throughout the year. From flowers that provide food for bees and butterflies in warmer months to seed heads and berries that help feed birds in winter, the new signage is also helping visitors understand the important role that wild spaces can play in supporting nature.
The Pollinator Parks initiative, led by Climate Action North, focuses on transforming outdoor areas across business and retail parks into wildlife-friendly spaces through small-scale rewilding. By introducing native wildflowers and planting designed to support pollinating insects, these areas provide safe havens for bees, butterflies and other important species.
For Sunderland Enterprise Park, this work forms part of our ongoing commitment to making the site a welcoming, sustainable and environmentally responsible place to work.
Business parks are often designed around functionality but we recognise the importance of balancing this with biodiversity and creating spaces where nature can flourish. The further establishment of pollinator-friendly areas helps bring more colour, wildlife and natural habitats to the Park, while supporting wider efforts to tackle biodiversity decline.
SEP Management already takes pride in maintaining the common areas across the Enterprise Park, ensuring the environment is well cared for and welcoming for the many businesses and employees based here. Supporting initiatives like Pollinator Parks allows us to go one step further by improving the ecological value of these spaces.
The benefits extend beyond wildlife too. Greener environments can provide more attractive outdoor areas for people working at and visiting Sunderland Enterprise Park, creating spaces that encourage connection with nature and contribute positively to wellbeing.
Our team has worked alongside Climate Action North to help bring this project to life, including supporting the creation of dedicated pollinator-friendly areas designed to attract bees, butterflies, birds and other wildlife.
The Pollinator Parks are a small but important step in helping nature recover, demonstrating how businesses and organisations can work together to make a meaningful impact.
