Do you recognise this ghost?
We knew that our new cameras were very sharp on detail but we had no idea that the control room would pick up this ghostly intruder in SEP’s offices on Halloween! Immediately, the mobile patrol was alerted and quickly on hand to chase off the unwelcome apparition. But what or who was it?
Fortunately, a visitor was on hand to take a video of the ghost as it tried to evade capture from our mobile patrol security officers. That visitor (who wishes to remain nameless) has very kindly given us permission to include the video here. Hopefully, this will help identify the apparation.
The suspects
We have made some enquiries. Apparently, the Park is said to be haunted from its mining days. Have you heard this? Can you give us more information?
However, there is another suspect. The Cauld Lad of Hylton Castle – a stable boy at the Castle called Robert Skelton who was murdered several hundred years ago by Baron Robert Hylton. Interestingly, a security guard at a nearby building site claimed to have been visited by the Cauld Lad. Maybe the Cauld Lad decided it was time to visit our security officers?
It seems there are many ghostly apparitions in and around Sunderland and Washington, including the Stadium of Light and the Sunderland Empire. However, none seem more likely than the Cauld lad who has a reputation for being mischievous.
